TYRE CENTRES

Tyre centre premises checklist

bays, public areas and equipment handover

Tyre centre premises checks need clear bay and asset references. This guide explains the operational handover while tyre inflation, wheel work and lifting remain governed by specialist competent procedures.

Plan the routine around your site

Separate customer reception and shared facilities from the workshop bays and specialist equipment tasks. Assign each routine only to staff trained for its scope and refer to the required technical checks through their approved records. Read outstanding bay restrictions before allocating work so an unavailable station is not treated as ready merely because a premises round is complete. The checklist should describe an accessible observation and current action without asking staff to diagnose tyre or equipment faults. Use stable bay and asset identifiers. At shift change, pass the next owner and review point forward alongside any temporary operational arrangement.

Agree the assigned role, due window, expected record and escalation route with the people who do and review the work. Include an honest outcome for work that could not be completed, with a reason and a next action.

What to include in the checklist

These are planning examples. Adapt the questions and timing to your approved procedures and the person’s responsibilities.

Do not put tyre-inflation instructions in a generic round

Tyre and wheel work requires its approved trained procedures. A general operational record can reference the relevant competent checks without attempting to define inflation, restraint or repair methods.

Give the next shift enough context

An accessible equipment lead is visibly damaged at bay TY-02. The trained team follows the site withdrawal process and records the asset without diagnosing the fault. The workshop lead assigns authorised assessment and records the current bay arrangement. The next shift sees the restriction before work allocation.

Identify the area or asset, the observation, the actual result, the immediate action and who was informed. Attach useful evidence where safe and permitted. A photograph supports a finding without establishing its cause.

  1. Keep the original observation and time.
  2. Assign a specific next action and agree when it will be reviewed.
  3. Record the later outcome and authorised verification beside the finding.

Read the guide to writing a useful fault report for a closer look at the evidence record.

Review the work still needing attention

Review repeated bay restrictions by asset and whether a later authorised outcome remains connected to the original observation. Separate premises submissions from technical inspection, tyre work and lifting records. Repeated missing handovers may indicate an unclear changeover responsibility rather than a need for additional generic checks.

Review completion and outstanding actions together. A missing routine and a completed routine with a failure need different follow-up. The weekly manager review guide explains how to move from the summary to the source record.

Try the routine in CheckControl

Start with an existing routine, add its questions and instructions, and agree the assignment and due window. Staff can record answers and findings on their phones; managers can review the record and follow-up. Use the relevant PDF or Excel export for your authorised review. The public demo uses fictional people, findings and evidence.

Common questions

How should a tyre centre record a bay restriction?

Use the bay and asset references, actual observation, action taken and authorised next owner. Keep the technical assessment and later outcome linked through the approved process.

What is the scope of this guide?

Tyre inflation, wheel repair, lifting and workshop equipment use follow competent approved procedures and manufacturer instructions. This guide provides no technical work instructions.
